About St. Carlo Acutis (1991-2006) - "God's Digital Saint"

Carlo Acutis, born in 1991, will become the first millennial to be declared a saint by the Catholic Church. Known as "God's influencer," this remarkable Italian teenager used his computer programming skills to spread awareness of the Catholic faith and document Eucharistic miracles around the world.

Acutis told his mother after his First Communion at age 7: "To always be united to Jesus: This is my life plan." He called the Eucharist "my highway to heaven" and attended daily Mass whenever possible. His miracles' exhibit, featuring more than 100 documented miracles involving the Eucharist throughout history, has since traveled to thousands of parishes across five continents.

Carlo died at age 15 in 2006 after being diagnosed with leukemia, telling his mother: "I offer all of my suffering to the Lord for the Pope and for the Church in order not to go to purgatory but to go straight to heaven." Often depicted wearing jeans and trainers, he has become a relatable figure to a new generation of Catholics.

About St. Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901-1925) - "Man of the Eight Beatitudes"

Pier Giorgio Frassati was affectionately called the "Man of the Beatitudes" by Saint John Paul II for his exemplary work of bringing comfort and happiness to those who were poor, suffering, meek, hungry, thirsty, and in need of mercy. Friends described him as "an explosion of joy" and "the finest in Christian youth: pure, happy, enthusiastic about everything that is good and beautiful."

Born in Turin, Italy on April 6, 1901, Pier Giorgio was the son of Alfredo Frassati, founder and director of the newspaper "La Stampa." He was known for his joy and jokes, his athleticism, his care for the poor, his political activism, and for challenging his friends to virtue. At age 17, he joined the St. Vincent de Paul Society and dedicated much of his spare time to serving the sick and needy, caring for orphans, and assisting demobilized servicemen returning from World War I.

An avid mountaineer, Pier Giorgio took as a personal motto "verso l'alto!"—meaning "to the highest!"—which for him meant not only the summit of a mountain, but heaven. He died in 1925 of poliomyelitis at age 24, likely contracted while caring for the sick and poor. Thousands of Turin's poor lined the streets for his funeral, revealing the extent of his hidden charitable work.

Historic September 7, 2025 Canonization

The Vatican announced that Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati will be canonized together on September 7, 2025.
